Melbourne University Sport recently welcomed new Board Chair Professor Jim Angus along with three new external members Kate Roffey, Grant Williams and James Marburg.
Jim Angus is an esteemed academic who recently retired from the University after a distinguished career as a pharmacologist, educator and administrator over 30 years. Professor Angus was the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences from 2003 – 2013. Jim is very passionate about the benefits of sport and active recreation to the community and is an avid golfer.
Kate Roffey is the CEO for the Committee of Melbourne and brings vast experience in the commercial, government and not for profit sectors. Grant Williams is on the AFL Executive as General Manager of Community Football Operations and is a very experienced sports administrator, a graduate of the University and previous player and coach at the University Blues Football team. James Marburg returns to the Board which he previously served as a student member. James is a former Olympic Rower, member of the boat club and recently completed his Juris Doctor at the Melbourne Law School and now works for an international law firm.
Professor Angus replaces the inaugural Chair Geoff Rees who has stepped aside after 6 years of committed leadership in furthering sport at the University. The University would like to thank Geoff and other outgoing board members James Sutherland, Lynne Williams and Mitchell Anderson for their diligent service to the University during their time on the Board. Board terms are capped at 2 x 3 years.
