A new record for weekly attendance to the University’s fitness and aquatic centres was achieved in early March this year with 16,801
active visits from students, staff and alumni, surpassing the previous weekly record of 15,617
There are now a record number of members (5,000)
who visit regularly and a significant number of students and staff enjoying the facilities and programs on a casual basis.
The increasing levels of participation are built on MU Sports ongoing investment in quality facilities and equipment, leading edge group fitness programs, great customer service and successful promotion during Orientation to include facility tours. Fitness membership initiatives for Semester 1, included a $150,000 investment in new cardio equipment for the Beaurepaire Centre, promotions on the benefits of an active lifestyle, direct debit payment incentives, simplifying casual visit and access pass payments, and introducing new 30 minute programs to accommodate members’ timeframes such as X-Train gym and group fitness GRIT classes.
A comprehensive range of fitness services
are provided in the Sports Precinct and at Lincoln Square Fitness, including fully equipped weight and strength training areas, extensive group fitness programs and the very popular Beaurepaire Pool.
