Elite Athlete Entry Scheme
The University encourages international, national and state representation in sports and artistic performance and recognises the positive alignment that elite training and participation has to the University’s academic mission.
This Entry Scheme provides for additional consideration to be given for students intending to study at the University of Melbourne.

Sport Scholarships provide elite and emerging student-athletes with financial and in-kind support to assist them to reach their potential whilst studying at Melbourne. There is a variety of Sports Scholarship support on offer which can include:
- Up to $4,000 to assist with competition and travel costs
- Physiotherapy services (fully or partially subsidised with on campus practice Elite Akademy)
- Professional Strength and Conditioning coaching and programming
- 12 month Student Aquatic and Fitness (ScholarFit) membership
- Subsidies for inter-varsity representative sporting events
Sports Scholarship holders undertake to represent the University of Melbourne at appropriate inter-varsity championships or events during their the term of their scholarship.

Rugby Young Achiever Award
The University of Melbourne is offering a tertiary education and sporting scholarship to the value of $10,000 as part of the 2018 Young Achiever Award.
The scholarship honours the spirit of Sir Edward “Weary” Dunlop, in its search for a student rugby player who exemplifies the attributes he demonstrated: leadership, academic endeavour and sporting excellence.
The Award recipient will receive a scholarship up to the value of $10,000. This scholarship is inclusive of:
- $2,500 tertiary scholarship from the University of Melbourne ¹
- $2,500 rugby scholarship from the Melbourne University Rugby Football Club ²
- $5,000 Melbourne University Sport Winged Victory Scholarship ³
¹ The Rugby Young Achiever Award does not provide guaranteed admission to the University of Melbourne. Applications to study at the University of Melbourne must be made through VTAC. The award recipient must enrol to study at the University of Melbourne in 2019.
² Provision of the rugby scholarship is contingent on the award recipient joining the Melbourne University Rugby Football Club for the 2019 season and will be payable in two installments of equal value in April and July, 2018.
³ The Melbourne University Sport Winged Victory Scholarships will be facilitated as part of the Elite Athlete Program and include a range of cash and in-kind support.

The University of Melbourne Rugby Young Achiever Award is open to Australian Year 12 students only. Applicants will be asked to demonstrate how they exhibit the qualities of academic endeavour, leadership and sporting excellence in their application. Endorsements from school and community rugby clubs (where applicable) are also required: 2018 Application Form
